Tapping on VIA's technology network

In 1994, an informal meeting of the chamber of commerce dealing with "ways out of the crisis in the automotive supplier industry" was organized with some 70 companies of the region participating. 11 of these agreed to enter into a closer cooperation.

In 1995, a project funded by the federal land of North Rhine-Westphalia was launched aiming at the "introduction of CI in medium-sized businesses".

In 1996, the companies involved expressed their wish to continue the cooperation which led to the establishment of the first joint company in the association, VIA Oberflächentechnik GmbH in Lennestadt-Elspe.

1997, VIA Consult was established as an independent unit of VIA Oberflächentechnik.

In 2001, it was transferred into a company under the form of a GmbH + Co. KG with its headquarters in Olpe. The firm offers the coordination of cooperative ventures as well as project management for individual and joint projects.

Currently, the VIA association unites 15 companies.
